International Conference "Making Kin as Practice of Care Habitable Bodies or Unexpected Alliances between Ecology, Technology and Feminism"
Date: 25-06-2026 09:00
Location: Universidade da Beira Interior
The International Conference Making Kin as Practice of Care will take place from 25 to 27 June 2026 at the University of Beira Interior (Covilhã, Portugal).
Inspired by Donna Haraway’s notion of making kin, the conference brings together researchers from different disciplines to explore how human and more-than-human beings forge relations of care, belonging and coexistence in a world shaped by ecological crises, technological transformations and contemporary feminist challenges.
Over the course of three days, the programme will feature keynote lectures, parallel sessions and interdisciplinary discussions on topics such as ecology, artificial intelligence, feminisms, decolonial thought, contemporary subjectivity, more-than-human creativity, climate justice and practices of care.
The final day, 27 June, will be dedicated to a series of complementary activities that extend the conference themes, including a book exhibition and sale focused on feminism, ecology and technology, a presentation of the volume Philosophical Subversions: Feminism, Gender and Other Pathways, and a guided visit to the Wool Museum of the University of Beira Interior.
