Frédéric Seyler ENG

Postdoctoral Researcher

Frédéric Seyler is a professor at the Department of Philosophy at DePaul University, Chicago, USA. He is the author of numerous publications on Michel Henry's phenomenology, including “Barbarie ou culture : L’éthique de l’affectivité dans la phénoménologie de Michel Henry” (Kimé 2010) and “Die Lebensphänomenologie Michel Henrys”. “Eine Ethik der Affektivität” (Alber 2010).

He also co-edited the collection and translations of Michel Henry's texts published by Northwestern University Press under the title The Michel Henry Reader (Northwestern University Press 2019). He is co-director of the Journées d’études en phénoménologie de la vie (Study Days in Phenomenology of Life) at the Collège des Bernardins (Paris) and co-director of the Centre de recherche sur la philosophie contemporaine française de la religion (Forschungsstelle fürjüngere französische Religionsphilosophie) at the University of Freiburg (Germany).

He is an international collaborator with the Michel Henry Reading and Discussion Group linked to the Phenomenology and Culture Working Group - PRAXIS Center for Philosophy, Politics, and Culture at the University of Beira Interior, as well as with the Círculo fenomenológico da vida e da clínica at the University of São Paulo – USP, Brazil.
